If I could have any job...

My ideal job has something to do with horses. I really wish that we could bring back free range cattle because I would LOVE to be a cowgirl. I know that sounds like something a little girl would say but I've gone through so many jobs that deal with horses that I might want and I think being a cowgirl would be the best. I love spending as much time in the saddle as possible and sometimes I prefer horse company to human company, I love the outdoors, and I was born to work with horses.
I know I could work at a rescue ranch but I think that would take its toll on me seeing all the things people do to horses. I currently volunteer at a rescue ranch and I have a gift with horses in that they trust me so sometimes I have to go to the most neglected and sickest horses to help the vets. I have such a hard time with that because it doesn't register with my brain as to how someone could do something to any living creature, but especially a horse, because they really do break.
Right now I'm thinking about becoming an equine assisted psychotherapist... now I know you're all thinking, "You want to be a horse shrink?" NO! An equine assisted psychotherapist (EAP) is a relatively new experiential therapy in which the clients work with horses to overcome obstacles and then after the activities, they process with a therapist.
Another possibility I'm thinking of is becoming a horse trainer but the showing world is a harsh one, not a world I've ever been a part of and people want their horses trained a certain way. It's hit and miss with trainers but it's one of those jobs where you love working with the horse and you just think, "Why oh why can't your owner be as smart as you are?"
No matter what happens, I don't want to be stuck behind a desk doing paperwork all the time. That would kill my spirit. I'd rather be mucking stalls for minimum wage than working on Wall Street and knowing I'm corrupt or screwing others over.

Great hub Dana!
My daughter loves horses too. We have a "farm" across the road from our home, where they have like a hundred miniature, and regular horses and llamas, (and other creatures too). The horses are always outside, and the fence is strait across from my place, so we get blessed everyday with them! They are such a joy to watch.
